Can Ömer Uygan
Can Ömer Uygan was born 1982 in Izmir, Turkey. After being a part of the state opera choir in his childhood, he joined the Anadolu University State Concervatuary Eskisehir and studied trumpet with Erden Bilgen. He also collaborated with İmer Demirer, Gerassimos İoannidis, Marvin Stam, Bill Mays, Rich İllman, Vincent Dimartino, Matthias Kamps, John Hangstrom, Rex Richardson and Graham Nicholson. He founded Gevende with his friends in 2000. In 2006 he and the band decided to move to Istanbul and toured as “Gevende on the roof” project in Iran, Pakistan, India and Nepal. They played together in a lot of festivals and concert venues around the world as well as Turkey. He then parted ways with Gevende in 2007. And he founded his new band KAM with colleagues in 2010. He collaborated with musicians like Tobias Klein, Mark Alban Lotz, Yasemin Mori, Şenol Küçükyıldırım “Ways”, Şevket Akıncı, İzzet Kızıl, Jürg Solothurnmann, Korhan Futacı, Tom Freyer, Okay Temiz, Mircan Kaia, Natalia Mann, Şirin Soysal, Jean-Pierre Smadj, Benjamin Skeeper, Replikas, Ayyuka, Pinhani, Candaş Şişman (Visuals), Senem Diyici ”Mavi Yol Quartet”, Alain Blesing, Yahya Dai, Enzo Ikah, Yolda, Emin Fındıkoglu ‘’Unique Horns’, Anatolian Brass Quartet, Mark O’Leary and many more. Thereby he was a part of experimental, pschedelic folk, free jazz, pop, historical turkish music and classic music projects. Can Ömer Uygan performed on stage in New York, Amsterdam, Berlin and London. Apart from that he toured in Belgium, Greece, Indonesia, China, etc. Besides these several projects , he is currently teaching trumpet in his studio from 2007.
